Hands Laser Hair Removal
Getting to the root of the problem
Are you sick of hair growing on the back of your hands or your knuckles? If so, laser hair removal from the hands might be for you!
The hands aren’t the first body part that comes to mind when we think about laser hair removal, but the reality is that it’s a great treatment for almost every kind of unwanted hair. It’s fast, convenient, and it gives long-term results, so what’s there not to like?
If you’re curious about laser hair removal from your hands, here’s everything you need to know about this service.
How Laser Hair Removal From the Hands Works
Laser hair removal is a highly effective option for eliminating hair from the hands. The laser works by zapping the hair follicle with light. Because it’s attracted to the pigment in the follicle, it doesn’t damage the skin around it. The damage from the laser inhibits the follicle’s ability to regrow hair, which is why it’s such an excellent long-term solution.
Laser hair removal from the hands is incredibly quick since the area being treated is so small. It’s the perfect lunchtime service since an appointment takes only five minutes or so.
Your first appointment will probably be your longest one, just because it might require a longer consultation with your laser technician or registered nurse. When you first come in, they’ll spend as much time as necessary answering your questions and making sure you’re comfortable prior to the appointment.
Once you’re ready to start, they’ll use a skin-safe pencil on your hands to draw a few lines. This allows them to make sure they don’t miss any spots. Then, they’ll start operating the laser.
You will feel a small sting, but most of our clients find it tolerable. The technology we use at SEV Laser emits a cooling shot immediately after it “zaps” an area. It helps to immediately tame the pain from the hair removal process.

Hands Laser Hair Removal Before and After
Pre-Treatment
The treatment area must be clean-shaven 12-24 hours prior to treatment, and free from any hand lotions.
Post-Treatment
Laser hair removal makes your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. With the hands, this can be a little complicated since we use them so much. Using sunscreen to protect the hands is important, so we’ll always provide you with some after your treatment. For the following days, however, consider picking up a hand cream with SPF that you won’t have a problem using regularly.

What Does it Cover?
Laser hair removal from the hands covers the back of the hand, starting directly above the wrist, as well as the back of the fingers. You can do it on its own or you may want to combine this with arm laser hair removal.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
You will likely need between 6 to 12 sessions to see results, although precise numbers do vary. We usually see around 10%-25% percent reduction in hair growth after each session, which is why it takes multiple treatments to achieve total clarity.
For the laser to effectively destroy the ability of a hair follicle to regenerate, the follicle itself needs to be in an active growth stage. During your treatment, only a percentage of your hairs will be in that stage, and hairs that aren’t won’t be affected as dramatically.
We recommend that our patients come in every 4-6 weeks. This gives the skin enough time to recover and also ensures that many new follicles move into an active growth stage.

Why Laser Hair Removal is Best for the Hands
Laser hair removal hits on a magic trifecta that makes it the best hair removal solution for many: it’s long-lasting, it’s fast, and it’s cost-effective. The same can’t be said for any of the other hair removal methods out there.
The only other hair removal method that gives lasting results is electrolysis, but it’s incredibly painful, slow, and expensive.
Shaving and waxing don’t last. If you go the professional route for waxing, a single session is only a touch less expensive than a laser appointment. The difference is that with laser, you’ll only need 6-12 sessions, while with waxing you’ll have to keep going for the rest of your life.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?
We always recommend clients start with 6 sessions, with appointments spaced 4-8 weeks apart. After that first series of sessions, you can evaluate whether you like your results or if you’d like to complete another series. It’s hard to predict exactly how many sessions each person will require. Hair growth cycles are impacted by a lot of individual factors. For instance, only the follicles that are in their growth stage will be impacted by the laser. Since only some of your hairs are in this phase at the same time, we have to go over the same area again and again over the course of a few months in order to permanently reduce hair growth all over the hands.
