Can I Skip a Month of Laser Hair Removal?

Life happens, and sometimes you might need to skip a session. While it's always best to stay on track, missing one month won’t undo your progress. Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in your hair follicles during their active growth phase, known as the anagen phase. Because not all of your hair is in this phase at the same time, multiple treatments spaced out over time are essential. Most laser hair removal plans, including SEV’s, recommend coming in for monthly treatment sessions. These intervals were developed to coincide with the hair growth cycle, ensuring each session has maximal impact and leads to as much hair reduction as possible. Consistency is key, especially at the start. At SEV, we often recommend sticking to a “4x4” approach (four treatments, spaced about four weeks apart) to catch as many hair follicles as possible in their most responsive growth phase. This helps you achieve smoother skin faster and more effectively.

What Happens If You Miss a Month?

Skipping a session could mean missing the ideal time to treat some hairs, which might make that particular session less effective. But don’t worry, it doesn’t mean starting over or losing previous results. You might just need an extra session later to catch up. The goal of laser hair removal is long-term hair reduction, not perfection overnight. Your body’s hair growth cycles continue even if you skip a month, and SEV’s expert nurses and technicians will adjust your treatment plan as needed to help you stay on course and create your impeccably smooth results.

The Bottom Line

Sticking to your monthly sessions, especially for your first four appointments, gives you the best shot at fast, noticeable results. But if you have to miss a month, it's okay. Just pick up where you left off, and your journey to smooth, hair-free skin will still stay on track.   Laser Hair Removal Cycles
