Preparing for laser hair removal? Let SEV fill you in on the details with our guide to your first appointment.
Making the decision to go hair-free for the long term can seem obvious, but we know that the word “laser” can sound a little intimidating. What do you need to do? What will the experience be like?

Don’t worry, we have your push to start laser guide. You’ll be prepped, informed, and ready for your hair-free experience.

Preparing For Laser Hair Removal

First things first, you should actually make your laser hair removal appointment! Doing so is pretty simple with the help of our online booking system. We have SEV Laser medspas all over the United States, so just pick the one closest to you. With that out of the way, here are a few things to know!

Stay Out of the Sun

For at least 2-4 weeks before your appointment, the most important thing to do is to stay out of the sun and skip self-tanners. For best results, it’s so important that your skin is at its most natural, base color. We can treat all skin tones, but a tan does make things harder. Plus, sun exposure can be very damaging to the skin – we can’t do laser hair removal if you have a sunburn!

No More Epilation

And by epilation, we mean all hair removal methods that pull your hair directly out of the follicle. If your hair doesn’t have a root, our laser has nothing to target, so it’d actually reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. That means no waxing, no sugaring, no electrolysis, and no epilator machines. You’re done with that… no mas.

Shaving is Fine (and Before Your Appointment, You Have To)

The good news? You can still shave. Laser hair removal is the only professional, long-lasting hair removal method that lets you stay smooth in between appointments. In fact, shaving guarantees that our laser will penetrate right where it needs to go. That’s why we ask that you definitely shave between 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.

Get Cleared for Treatment

Laser hair removal isn’t for everyone. There are certain medications and health conditions that just don’t play well with laser.
We don’t play games, so we’ll send you some very comprehensive online paperwork to make sure it’ll be safe to treat you, as well as care instructions. We know no one likes it, but it’s one and done and it gets you closer to that hair-free body you’ve been wanting.

Appointment Time!

Finally, your day will arrive – your appointment time!
We recommend you come into SEV wearing loose, comfy clothing. Anything tight can chafe against freshly-lasered skin. Good thing flowy maxi dresses are in fashion! Be prepared – you’ll need to expose the body part you’re having treated. Please choose your undergarments accordingly.

Once you arrive, you can relax in the waiting room, and grab a snack or water. Your nurse or laser technician will come and grab your gorgeous self. They’ll take you into the treatment room, let you get comfy, and then they’ll take it from there – you’ll be hair-free before you know it with just a bit of a zap and a sting!
Once your treatment is done (and believe us, it’ll be over before you know it), we’ll give you some more instructions about aftercare, let you slather on some soothing lotion or SPF, and you’ll be ready to go about your day.
