Bunny Lines Botox: How It Works, Cost, and More

With a name like “bunny lines”, we think the wrinkles that show across the nose can be pretty cute. That said, not everyone is a fan. They can make you feel self-conscious about making certain facial expressions, or simply remind you that your face is changing as you age.

Thankfully, bunny lines are easy to treat with a small amount of Botox or other neuromodulators. In this guide, we’ll explain what bunny lines are and everything you need to know about getting Botox to treat them.

What Are Bunny Lines?

Bunny lines are the small wrinkles that can form along the bridge of your nose when you frown or scrunch your face. Over time and with age, the wrinkles may remain even when your face is at rest.

Just like forehead lines or crow’s feet, they’re considered dynamic wrinkles, which means that they’re caused by muscle movement — specifically, the movement of the nasalis, procerus, and alaeque nasi muscles.

Because of the complex shape of these muscles, these little wrinkles go in multiple directions, requiring a skilled injector to treat.

How Does Botox Treat Bunny Lines?

Botox and similar neuromodulators work by blocking the neurotransmitter that tells your muscles to contract.

When Botox is injected into the nose muscles responsible for bunny lines, it forces them to relax. As a result, the muscles can no longer contract as tightly as before, which stops the bunny lines from forming. The effects usually start to kick in within a few days, with full effects visible within two weeks.

During your appointment, your nurse will first have you move your face to assess your wrinkles and identify which muscles are responsible. Based on that, they can identify the correct injection sites and recommend the ideal amount of Botox or neuromodulator.

How Long Does Botox in Bunny Lines Last?

Botox is not a long-term solution. In the bunny lines, it typically lasts for 2-4 months. Signing up for a Botox membership can be a great way to maintain your results while saving on the cost per unit.

Bunny Line Botox Side Effects: Is It Risky?

When injected by a qualified and trained provider, Botox in the bunny lines is not considered risky.

The most common Botox side effects are:

  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Tenderness in the injection site
  • Slight unevenness or facial asymmetry

Easing the bunny lines requires a very small amount of Botox, so the risk of more significant adverse events is minimal. However, if injected incorrectly, it can lead to vision problems, drooping, or the formation of unexpected wrinkles as muscles overcompensate. This is why seeing an injector experienced in treating the nose is so important.

If you do experience any unusual or severe symptoms such as excessive swelling, vision changes, difficulty swallowing or breathing, report them to your provider and seek medical care.

Can Botox Cause Bunny Lines?

Too much Botox between the brows or in the crow’s feet can lead to bunny lines. When those other facial muscles are frozen, the uninjected nose muscles recruit when you smile, leading to bunny lines.

This is why having an experienced injector who thinks about your face holistically is so important. You may actually find that a small amount of bunny line Botox is a key addition to your crow’s feet or frown line injections.

Bunny lines Botox typically requires anywhere between 4 to 8 units, depending on which parts of the nose are being injected and how your bunny line wrinkles form.

How Much Does Bunny Line Botox Cost?

Bunny line Botox is often very affordable. At SEV, expect to pay just $52–$104, depending on the amount of Botox you’ll need.

Putting an End to Bunny Lines

Botox is an effective and affordable treatment for bunny lines. It helps relax the muscles responsible for nose wrinkles with just a few small injections.

While it is a quick and easy procedure, it does require a skilled practitioner who takes the time to understand your facial anatomy. In some cases, bunny lines can actually form as a result of over-injection of Botox in other parts of your face.
