Have you ever wondered how professional models maintain their appearance? Looking good is their literal job, so models have the best beauty tips, not just for looking good but also for feeling confident at all times. You’ve seen these models on our socials. Today, you get to read their advice! 

Meet the Models

We spoke to LA-based models Edrys Duran (@edrysduran), Petra Semes (@petrasemes), Naraa Bayarjargal (@Naraa.be), and Chand Smith (@chandsmith) about how they stay at the top of their game.

#1. Romance Yourself 

For many models, the biggest beauty secret isn’t a specific treatment or product. It all starts with taking care of themselves and focusing on what makes them feel happy. Or, as Edrys puts it, “I’m all about romance with myself.”

“Off-duty, my beauty is all about rituals that make me feel good from the inside out,” Edrys shares. “I’m all about romance with myself.“ 

The same is true for Petra, who focused on taking care of her mind. “I make time for things that make me feel alive: Hiking in nature, laughing with friends, and surrounding myself with good energy,” She says. “When you feel happy and at peace within, it naturally shows on the outside.” 

#2. Staying Fit Is More Than Exercise 

For all of our models, movement and fitness are a key part of what keeps them thriving mentally and physically. 

Chand is a hockey player and trainer turned model and bodybuilder, so fitness was always a big part of his life. “As both a model and personal trainer, I focus on eating well and training consistently.”

Regular exercise is about more than just staying in shape or achieving a specific ideal. It helps you develop a stronger mind-body connection and improves body image for greater confidence on the runway or in front of the camera. 

Naara, who prioritizes exercise to stay healthy and fit, pairs her workout regimen with mental health. “After [I workout], I sit in the sauna for 15 min meditating,” She shares. 

#3. Water All Day 

Drinking water might seem fundamental, but both Edrys and Chand mention staying hydrated as one of their top model beauty tips.

If you find it hard to remember to drink, we have a few suggestions: 

  • Always have water by your side and in a convenient container, whether it’s a trendy Stanley or just your biggest glass. 
  • There’s nothing wrong with flavor-enhancers. Create your own water and fruit infusions, add a squeeze of lemon, or try caffeine-free tea infusions.
  • Food can also keep you hydrated! Soups are a great source of water, as are fruits and veggies like cucumbers, watermelon, lettuce, tomatoes, and celery. 
  • Tea, juice, and even soft drinks can support your overall hydration, but only in moderation, as caffeine, sugar, and additives can have ill effects.

#4. Skincare As Ritual

Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated to deliver an impact. The role of your skincare routine is to help you maintain a healthy skin barrier by keeping it clean and fortified. 

For Chand, skincare is simple — keeping his skin clean helps it thrive. Naara turns her skincare routine into a ritual that also soothes her mind by listening to sound healing songs. 

At its most basic, your skincare routine only needs to include a handful of items: 

  • Sunscreen for daytime to protect from the damaging (and aging) effects of the sun
  • A gentle cleanser to remove the build-up, excess oils, and impurities from the day
  • A moisturizer with barrier-repairing ingredients to keep your skin hydrated and resilient 

Other products, like weekly exfoliants, masks, or serums, can take your skin even further, but they’re not mandatory. The most important thing is to build a routine you’ll stick to and enjoy.

Naara highlights the importance of sleep hygiene, especially putting away her phone and avoiding screens an hour before bed.
